A Whirlwind Visit
My two youngest whirlwinds came for a visit tonight,
It took only a few minutes and our house was quite a sight.
They ate most of Nanny’s dinner and the pudding to the last bite,
They each had a piece of candy then, they were ready to play all night.
Their decibel level rose higher keeping up with their level of fun,
They must have super cell batteries because that pink bunny they can surely out run.
But they played together real good and we all had a real swell time,
But going home with Mom and Dad isn't what they had on their mind.
So after a time out by Ryen and a little episode by Zack,
We assured them that we loved them and promised they could come back.
And with that, they headed home with their engines still in warp speed,
How mom and dad can keep up, is a very amazing deed.

Ryen
Ryen, my bud, is a happy guy,
But he's picked up some tricks he's beginning to try.
But that shows he's smart and his attention is good,
Now, if he'll pick up the things that he should.
Maybe some day we'll fill his bottomless pit,
And really know that the bottom has been hit.
Hopefully his volume control can be found,
And I can turn down his very decibel-rich sound.

Zackary
Zackary Michael was your name in reverse,
When down from Heaven God brought you to earth.
You have not stopped since the very first day,
You have been a handful, I will have to say.
God sent you to us as a special son,
To teach us patience for the cherished ones.
Our patience has been taught and also tried,
So just like God, we're honored to be by your side.

Brothers Two
I know a couple little guys, brothers they happen to be,
They can make so much noise you’d think there were at least three.
I guess they're at that certain age when fun just can't be found,
Unless accompanied by a tremendous amount of sound.
They're also at the stage where everything comes in twos,
Should you forget and just buy one, big time you're going to lose.
It’s also a learning time for the energetic two,
And they learn so very quickly, monkey see monkey do.

The Noise Machines
Some people are filled with ideas; for others, hot air best describes them,
My two youngest grandsons; it's noise filled completely to the brim.
Sleep is the only thing any of us has ever found,
That can turn off my little buddies' roaring tornado-like sound.
Their sleep is like the old saying, "The calm before the storm,"
That's when they store up the energy for the tornado producing clouds to form.
I think we need to rename them; it should be Taz One and Two,
For that’s about the measure of what my little buddies can do.
I've tried to hold and talk to them, I've tried with all my might,
But to hold my little Taz buddies is way too big of a fight.
So I guess I'll have to wait and see if my buddies will ever slow down,
Because this old Pa-Pa can no longer chase them around.

Two Hundred WPM
We now have another little talker and one that’s not far behind,
As fast as machine-gun fire, he'll tell you what’s on his mind.
I can't understand very much, sometimes his body language gives me a clue,
But mainly momma and daddy is how his meaning to me comes through.
But as long as I give him my attention and say wow, or that sure is good,
It’s perfectly clear to him that every single word his Pa-Pa has understood.
That’s the main point anyway, to give the little ones the attention they seek,
Even if you hear, "Hey Pa-Pa," five hundred times in just one short week.
But I'm glad my little ones choose me, for their stories and adventures to share,
For what’s happening in my little ones lives, their Pa-Pa really does care.

Water Play
My little whirlwinds just turned into waterspouts,
Screaming like banshees and running all about.
But it's a happy sound for sure and a welcome one to hear,
For it means they're having fun and not shedding a tear.
So run and play little ones, have all the fun you can find,
One day you'll be all grown up and won't be able to find the time.

Eat and Run
My littlest buddy Ryen, is a chow hound second to none,
He'll let you know in a hurry when it's time to feed this little one.
When you say it's time to eat, don't dare get in his way,
It had better be on the table or dearly you're going to pay.
Full speed ahead is all this boy does know,
He just won't embrace a tiny little word called slow.
From the time he gets up until bedtime is seen,
My little buddy Ryen, is a perpetual motion machine.

Echo
Sometimes my old house develops a case of echoes,
It seems to coincide with when my grandkids come and goes.
Because my little ones are typical kids and don't want to be left out,
Whatever one might say, we'll hear an echo no doubt.
I'm trying to listen to one when Mr. Echo fires away,
Then I'm hopelessly lost and no attention can I pay.
That causes my loud little ones to increase their volume some more,
And just like a mighty waterfall, their words just pour and pour.

Eyes To The World
Four little eyes peeking from inside out,
Looking at the world ready to jump and shout.
Hoping to see a fire truck with its magical flashing light,
Waiting with anticipation with eyes wide and bright.
With their little hearts thumping, they jump at any sound,
Running to the window to see what can be found.
It’s joy, pure and simple, to see them run to and fro,
As they learn about the world and the path on which they must go.
