Applesauce Spice Cookies

1/3 cup soft margarine

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 1/2 cups applesauce

1 tsp vanilla

1 cup whole wheat flour

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 ½ tsp cinnamon

1 tsp nutmeg

1/2 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 egg

Toppings:

1 Tbs. granulated sugar

1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Heat the oven to 425.

Using electric mixer, cream margarine and sugar until smooth; add applesauce, vanilla and egg; beat well.

Add flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder and soda; mix well.

Drop by spoonfuls onto baking sheet coated lightly with non-stick vegetable spray.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until evenly browned.

Combine sugar and cinnamon for topping; sprinkle over hot cookies.

Let cool on racks.
